Access the latest rankings and permanent historical snapshots as JSON. The API exposes the same data the website is drawn from — no key, no sign-up.

Latest data

The latest endpoint returns the most recent published snapshot across countries, currencies and cryptocurrencies. Its contents change whenever a new snapshot is published; use a historical snapshot endpoint when you need a permanent response.

Historical snapshots

Snapshot endpoints are permanent references to previously published data. They are the preferred option for citations, reproducible research and archived analyses. Snapshot identifiers use the UTC publication time, for example 2026-09-19T18Z.

Response schema

Each response carries snapshot metadata and one record per entity. Field availability depends on the entity type.

snapshot — identifier of the published snapshot.
built_at — UTC time the snapshot was generated.
as_of — reporting period of the underlying source value.
sources — providers behind the record.
rank_in_type — position within the entity's own class.

Single records are also served individually: GET /api/e/country-usa.json.

Dates and freshness

Do not treat the snapshot timestamp as the reporting date of every value in the response. Economic statistics, money-supply observations, exchange rates and crypto market data update on different schedules; record-level fields identify the reporting period of the underlying observation separately.

Errors

404 Not Found — the requested snapshot or resource does not exist.
500 Internal Server Error — the request could not be completed because of a server error.

Attribution

When using Open Market Rank data publicly, link back to Open Market Rank and retain the original data-source attribution where practical. Source providers may have their own licensing requirements — check the data sources page before redistributing source data.

Rate limits

No public rate limit is currently documented. Clients should avoid unnecessary repeated requests and cache snapshot responses where practical.
